Abstract

This report presents a recent review of the Chinese smartphone industry in the fourth quarter of 2015. The report includes shipment volume of major smartphone brands in China, breakdowns of each vendor's shipment volume share by chipset maker, application processor model, ASP, panel size, camera pixel, resolution, as well as 3G and 4G technologies. The report also examines major chipset makers' product mix for smartphones sold in China. The report finds that the Chinese smartphone industry's shipment volume reached around 130.9 million units in the fourth quarter of 2015, up 10.2% sequentially and 24.6% year on year, with a total number of 259 new models launched during this quarter. By shipment volume, Xiaomi continued to stay on top of the ranking with a 13.9% market share. Trailing behind by a small margin, Huawei clung to the second place with 13.7% market share. Thanks to the launch of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, Apple's market share in China inched up 1.8 percentage points to 12.8% in the fourth quarter.
